Wayne Nichols

Wayne Nichols is a man who strives to achieve to the highest level.

Wayne was introduced to horse racing by his father Ted, a farmer who always raced a few horses. He worked on his father’s property whilst representing Australia in water skiing, and was named Australian Champion and also won several Victorian Championships.

After retiring from skiing, Nichols was inspired after mucking around with horses on his father’s farm that had been sacked or retired by other trainers, and decided to take a chance by taking out his own trainer’s licence. Leasing a mare named Spring Pleasure, Wayne made a winning debut at Seymour as a trainer, and followed it up with another win at Sandown shortly thereafter.

Twenty five years on, the legacy of Spring Pleasure has shaped Nichols career. Stable star, Diplomatic Force is a grandson of this bonny mare; whilst many of Spring Pleasure’s other descendants have been winners on the track under the careful guidance of Wayne.

What We Do

During his career, Wayne has handled many city winners and was also master to top city class Jockey Peter Robl and Adelaide Premiership winning jockey Travis Creek.
